Ildefonso Aguilar de la Rúa was born in 1945 in Salamanca and lives in Lanzarote. Multidisciplinary artist linked to the landscape and nature of Lanzarote, the island in which he has always lived. With the title Paisajes Posibles, García de Diego Gallery exposes his pictorial and photographic work in a space that is conducive to the introspection of each one.
He is one of the great personalities of the art in the Canary Islands with a great repercussion and international action. A broad and brilliant career that has led him to be named academician of the Royal Canary Academy of Fine Arts in 2012, Canary Gold Medal 2015, adopted son of Lanzarote … He uses painting as the main axis of his expression but he develops other means as well as music, photography, installation and intervention in the natural space; his work always reflects the geological essence (lavas, rocks, earth …) of Lanzarote, using natural sands of the island. A contemporary work, integral, intellectual, sensorial … all associated with the landscape, recently as well with Iceland; bare and austere sceneries of great strength and plastic beauty. The artist bordering the abstraction, pours the aesthetic concept out over his boards, personalized by his sensations and feelings of the place.
