Pilar Gutiérrez Salamanca (PÉGÉ). Sculptress.
Contemporary Canarian sculptor who began her activity in the nineties.
Character and strength describes the personality of the sculptor PÉGÉ.
After being self-taught, she has not stopped creating works of art with her own style, with a lot of symbolic charge and overcoming or releasing universal feelings.
Active creator, generally focused on the human figure, always unique very expressive pieces of small, medium and large format made of basalt stone or with other elements such as wood, iron, marble … .. She plays with the shapes where sculptures are given life, where the soul resists between the uncertainty and the certainties of a purely human feeling.
The modeling technique, due to the vigor of the shape, the work of the material and the textures, reveal expressionist features.
She has participated in many national and international exhibitions and symposia during her thirty-year career. In the gallery we find a limited production of unique small pieces, made in “living stone” (basalt), which are assembled by hand.
